SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Hogle Zoo’s ZooLights has been a holiday tradition in Salt Lake City for years.
Happening now through New Year’s Eve, the event illuminates the zoo with Christmas lights, lighted animal displays, and 10 life-size, animal-shaped lanterns.
KLS TV’s adventure specialist Sean Smith got an early-morning look at ZooLights Tuesday, where he caught up with Hogle Zoo spokesperson Erica Hansen and Santa Claus.
“Santa, isn’t this one of your favorite places to be?” asked Erica.
“This is the best place,” Santa said. “I love the zoo. It is so much fun.”
Sean got a look at the life-size animal lanterns, too.
They’re are a new addition to ZooLights just this year. They were made specifically for Hogle Zoo.
“You can see the detail,” Erica said. “These are all hand painted.”
