Update on Sarah Young’s Health and Illness
After receiving “intense, expensive therapy” in the US for six months in 2009 after being identified as having two infections linked to Lyme disease, Sarah showed no progress.
She has also experienced continuous dizziness for a number of years. These difficulties influenced the writing of Jesus Today, which follows the same format of first-person instruction from Jesus as her prior three devotionals.
Based on the author’s own journals, Jesus Calling was first published in 2004 and quickly became a best-seller, selling more than 5 million copies.
Since then, 6.5 million copies of it and associated works, such as the devotionals Jesus Lives and Dear Jesus, have been sold.
The 150 devotional postings of Jesus Today, each two pages long, contain fifty quotations on hope.
With drawings by Carolina Farias, the devotions in The Jesus Calling Bible storybook are written in the same style as the original adult book but in more understandable language.

Sarah subscribes to reformed teaching and a traditional interpretation of the Bible. She earned a master’s degree in biblical studies and counseling from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis.
She also belongs to the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), where her husband Stephen is an ordained preacher.
Stephen and Sarah are still working as missionaries for the PCA Mission to the World organization.
Sarah spends a lot of time praying, reading the Bible, and memorizing verses. She particularly enjoys saying daily prayers for each and every one of her books’ readers.
